A digital sight is an optoelectronic device that deeply integrates digital night vision imaging technology (low-light CMOS/CCD sensor + digital image processing + active infrared illumination) with weapon aiming functions. It is directly installed on firearms (rifles, shotguns, crossbows, etc.) to provide shooters with a clear and stable night aiming field of view and precise aiming point (reticle). It is mainly used in night hunting, tactical law enforcement, security defense and other scenes that require accurate shooting in dark environments.
1. Core functions: Precise aiming at night:
1.1 Low-light imaging: High-sensitivity sensors capture weak ambient light (moonlight, starlight, urban light pollution).
1.2 Active infrared illumination: Built-in high-power (adjustable) invisible infrared LEDs illuminate the target in a completely dark environment for clear imaging.
1.3 Electronic reticle: Electronic aiming points (red dot, crosshairs, BDC ballistic compensation reticle, etc.) are superimposed on the display screen, with adjustable brightness, color (red/green is common) and style. The reticle position is fixed and is not affected by the zeroing of the gun (the concept of "parallax zeroing" is different).
1.4 Real-time display: The sensor image and reticle are displayed in real time on the internal high-refresh rate micro display (OLED/LCD).
2. Revolutionary advantage: Anti-strong light interference:
2.1 The biggest core advantage! The digital system has automatic gain control (AGC) and strong light protection circuit. When encountering sudden strong light sources (such as car lights, flashlights, and fire), it will not be instantly blinded or permanently burned like traditional I² tubes. The image is usually briefly overexposed and then quickly restored to clarity, greatly improving the shooter's survivability and combat effectiveness in complex or confrontational light environments (especially in urban law enforcement, responding to vehicle interception, etc.).
3. Versatility and integration:
3.1 Built-in video/photography: A must-have function! It can record high-definition video (1080p/4K is common) and take photos, and transmit them to mobile phones/tablets in real time via Wi-Fi or store them in SD cards for tactical records, evidence collection, action review, and training analysis.
3.2 Wireless connection: Connect to the mobile phone APP via Wi-Fi/Bluetooth to remotely monitor the screen, change settings, download files, and upgrade firmware.
3.3 Picture-in-picture/digital zoom: Provides partial magnification observation to assist target identification and precise aiming.
3.4 Full-color mode (some high-end models): Provides near-real color images under certain ambient light (such as moonlight, street lights), significantly improving target recognition capabilities (such as distinguishing clothing, vehicle features, and friend-or-foe identification).
3.5 Ballistic solution (some tactical/hunting high-end models): Combined with a laser rangefinder module (needs additional integration or external connection), it provides distance information and calculates ballistic drop compensation, directly displays the gun lift height or the corrected aiming point.
4. Design robustness and weapon adaptation:
4.1 Impact resistance and recoil tolerance: Designed specifically for weapons, with a sturdy structure (aluminum alloy/magnesium alloy shell), it can withstand repeated impacts of high-recoil firearms (such as .308 Win, .300 WM) and maintain optical calibration.
4.2 Waterproof and fogproof: High-level waterproof (IP67/IPX7 or higher, submersible), nitrogen-filled and fogproof, suitable for rain, snow, humidity, and cold environments.
4.3 Standard rail installation: Usually installed via Picatinny rail or Weaver rail, with strong compatibility.
4.4 Ergonomic control: The button/knob design is easy to operate with gloves, and the position is in line with the shooting posture.
5. Other advantages:
5.1 Day/night dual-use: The night vision function can be turned off during the day and used as an ordinary low-magnification digital scope/observation scope (pay attention to sensor protection under strong light).
5.2 No image distortion/sharp edges: Digital images are usually more uniform than traditional I² tubes, with less edge distortion.
5.3 Quick startup: It can be used immediately after powering on, without preheating.
5.4 Cost (mid-range): Mid-range performance digital models may have a price advantage over Gen 2+/Gen 3 I² tube scopes of the same performance (top digital and top I² are very expensive).
1. Core performance limitations:
1.1 Extreme performance in extreme darkness: In absolute darkness, long distances, or in smoke/dense vegetation, where there is no ambient light and active infrared cannot cover/is insufficiently powered, its imaging brightness and detail resolution may still be inferior to the top-level Generation 3 I² tube scopes. The latter uses the principle of photon-level imaging.
1.2 Display delay: The image acquisition, processing, and display process will introduce a slight delay (milliseconds). For shooters who need to react to shooting very quickly or track high-speed moving targets, the lag may be perceived. Traditional I² tubes are true "zero-delay" photon imaging.
1.3 Resolution and recognition distance: The physical resolution of the sensor limits the theoretical limit recognition distance. High-resolution I² tubes with high-quality optics still have advantages in observing small target details at extremely long distances.
1.4 Power consumption: The sensor, screen, processor, and IR lighting all consume power. The battery life is significantly shorter than that of passive I² tubes. High brightness/video recording/high-power IR will accelerate power consumption, and spare batteries must be carried (commonly used 18650/CR123A combination).
2. Complexity of use:
2.1 Zeroing: It is necessary to perform precise mechanical zeroing like an optical sight to ensure that the scale point is consistent with the impact point (the zeroing process itself is performed during the day or in good light).
2.2 Settings and learning: More functions mean more complex menus and settings, which require time to familiarize yourself with.
2.3 Risk of active infrared exposure: When turning on active IR, the infrared light source may be detected by enemy personnel equipped with night vision equipment (especially I² tubes), exposing your position. Choosing LOW (low detectable wavelength) infrared or turning it on only when necessary can reduce the risk.
3. Price: Models with high-end features such as full color, high resolution, strong anti-halation, and ballistic solution are very expensive.
The digital night vision scope represents a major innovation in night vision aiming technology. With its revolutionary anti-glare capability, powerful multi-functional integration (especially video recording and image transmission) and increasingly improved imaging quality, it has been widely used in tactical law enforcement, modern hunting and security fields.
1. The core value lies in:
1.1 Providing safe and reliable aiming capabilities in complex night environments with sudden strong light.
1.2 Greatly improving mission recording, intelligence collection and post-analysis capabilities through video recording and image transmission functions.
1.3 Providing a more comfortable (optional full color) and feature-rich night shooting experience.
2. It is an ideal choice for the following users:
2.1 Law enforcement SWAT/military personnel: Performing high-risk night missions, they need to resist interference from car lights, flashlights, etc., and record key evidence.
2.2 Hunters who value safety and evidence collection: Hunting at night in permitted areas, recording the hunting process, and resisting interference from agricultural vehicle lights, etc.
2.3 Professional security personnel: Night patrols and defense of important facilities.
2.4 Weapon users who require multi-functional night vision.
